Welcome
The Parent Teachers Association is affiliated to NCPTA, (National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations), the national body that advises PTAs on activities and responsibilities, and exists to support the School in areas of activity which enhance educational provision. Although the Association raises funds for the school, it also provides links with the community and also an avenue for parents to become involved in school activities in a less formal way than being a governor. Funds raised through an annual draw and sale of items direct to parents have been used to support students on representational international and sporting events and the PTA are also to be involved in the development of a Parents' Forum as an aid to school evaluation and development.
Fundraising
The PTA raises money to fund additional educational opportunities and facilities for Ridgeway students - examples include:• Providing benches and tables for students to use in playgrounds
• Funding to assist individual students to travel when representing Plymouth, Devon, South West, or England Schools at Sport
• Funding to enable International Exchanges to flourish
• Support for lunchtime clubs such as Chess club
• Support for the development of Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Ten Tors Expedition groups.
The PTA use an annual raffle and table top sales, as well as involvement in community fairs, such as the Lamb Feast, Colebrook Carnival and Chaddlewood Community Fair to raise money for such purposes.
