Police website under inspection
Good community relations are a priority for both Ridgeway School and the police so both groups were able to join together with 23 people from our local retired community to lead an introductory course on using the internet. Led by police officers and helped by Ridgeway School students, they began by finding their way around the police website and were taught how to email the police.
The event was well received by all and sparked off interest in a follow up course. One suspects that word will spread that using computers is not particularly scary and can be learnt by anyone of any age. With the unusual feature of having a classroom leading onto the main Ridgeway shopping area, the school is well positioned to run such courses. With ages ranging from 11 to 85, PSCO Jodi Preshous coped well with the mixed ability group and I am pleased to report that the behaviour of everyone in the class was perfect! We plan to run further sessions, so if you are retired and would like some instruction on computers, please call the school on 01752 338373 leaving a name and contact number.
